The power of brain

Try reading the following sentences straight through without really thinking about it:

Acocdrnig to an elgnsih unviesitry sutdy the oredr of letetrs in a wrod dosen’t mttaer, the olny thnig thta’s iopmrantt is that the frsit and lsat ltteer of eevry word is in the crcreot ptoision. The rset can be jmbueld and one is stlil able to raed the txet wiohtut dclftfuiiy.

It seems to me that:

1. Human brain is forgiving to a small degree. The way it works could be by thinking of the possibilities with some letters/syllables and matching them with the central database.

2. I observe in the example sentence that the letter deciding the first or second syllable is present in all the words as the second or third letter. Or even more, second and third letters must be within 4th or 5th letter. And same applies from the other end of the word, in reverse.

And if it is the not this way, it seems difficult to auto-correct.

Taking an example, say, “Wlaking” or “wklaing” can possibly be corrected to “walking”. But “wingkal” seems difficult to correct.

I am not sure if the points are correct and its not a study. Its just my interpretation on the fly. Your comments are very welcome.

Negative thoughts unhealthy

According to BBC, it is reported by Proceedings of National academy of sciences, that pessimistic thoughts detoriorate the health of the people as it affects a part of the brain, called right pre-frontal cortex. Interestingly more activity in the left part of pre-frontal cortex is linked to positive responses.

“Emotions play an important role in modulating bodily systems that influence our health.”, the report further adds.

Well, then lets be positive & stay healthy.

Healthy Counter-argument

“If you eat more of one thing, you eat a lot less of something else. So for every theory saying this disease is caused by an excess of x, you can produce an alternative theory saying it’s a deficiency of y.”

SARS from Space?

A scientist claims that SARS must have originated from space for there is no possibility of a virus of that nature to have come out in the earth. Interesting, yet scary! But if that is a fact, then we end up cordially consenting with panspermia which says life comes from space.

Do you concur? I am not sure if I do or not.
